-i'm taking a little time off of d'angelo's record while he writes. i just finished 5 days of tracking for Nikka Costa's 3rd album. we had the legendary James Gadson who was the drummer for most of the classic Bill Withers records to play drums. he sounds better than ever and it was a real honor to record the living legend. this will be a great album for her and she sounds better than ever.
everything was recorded full analog running 15IPS using Dolby SR. we tracked at Henson Studios (formerly A&M studios). this was my first time working there and they are truly one of the last world class studios. i'll be mixing her album there in mid april.
february 2008
- i'm in the studio with D'Angelo. we started the next phase of tracking for his 3rd album. this album has been a work in progress since just after the voodoo tour in 2002. we haven't done any work on it since around 2006. D'Angelo is in good spirits and is ready to make another masterpiece.
-a few months ago i completed mixes for some live material from D'Angelo. i'm not sure when it will be released. there's talk about them being included as bonus material on re-issued versions of "brown sugar" and "voodoo". i mixed and recorded the following songs:
